“I met Dr. Bassett when I was in Massage School at East West College of the Healing Arts.  It was around 1998-1999 and I was new to the naturopathic scene.  She was working at NCNM and I was nervous at my first visit.  We immediately connected and I knew she was special and she really cared.  Over the years I saw her for various things and she introduced me to a new thinking, a new way to look at my mind-body connection and it made sense.  In 2004 I had signs of pre-cancer of the cervix. The Doctors (MD’s) wanted to take a huge portion of my cervix, and I may not have been able to carry children.  I was 24.  Something didn’t seem right about that to me, so I saw Dr. B.  We talked at length about my diagnosis and treatment options (there were several that the M.D.’s would not discuss with me).  Dr. B. and I decided on Escharotic treatment and proceeded with the naturopathic alternative.  While the M.D.’s would not acknowledge my decision and continued to insist on surgery, we went through the long process of cervical pre-cancer treatment.  It was something like 2 days a week for 6 weeks (She treated me like a human, a spirit, and not a diagnosis or victim).  When the long treatment was finished I saw her for checkups every month, then 3 months, then 2 times a year.  I have now been cancer free for 5+ years. Last year I had a beautiful baby girl named Ava, and carried her full term with no complications (she was overdue!)  I am certain that if Dr. B. had not come into my life, honored me as a whole person, listened to me, and was honest with me (something no other “Dr” has done before) my beautiful Ava would not be here.  She taught me that there is always another option and we have the right to explore those when it comes to OUR bodies, OUR mind and OUR spirit.   I don’t see her enough these days but she will always be my naturopath, no matter where we move or how far we go.  She is one of the purest spirits I know, I am blessed to choose her for my Doctor and honored to know her.”
